HIGH HOPES

THE MUSIC

High Hopes is a song written and produced by Zackariah and the Prophets, and is included on the band’s 2014 EP // Goodnight Icarus.

In a written tribute posted on the National Music Centre’s blog, Tyler Stewart states, “High Hopes” showcases Josh Hunter’s strengths as a drummer with an incredibly tight syncopated drum part that propels the momentum forward, and feels like that perfect kind of song that can bring thousands of people together at a music festival; everyone smiling and dancing underneath a beautiful sunny sky.” Josh and Zack were paid further tribute at the 2014 JUNO Awards.

THE EVENT

The High Hopes Benefit Concert, named after the Zackariah and the Prophets song, was held on September 4, 2014 at Calgary’s Jubilee Auditorium. The art and music charity event was hosted by the charitable organization Zackariah and the Non-Profits (ZATNP), and raised thousands of dollars for scholarships and/or trust funds that were established in memory of Lawrence Hong, Joshua Hunter, Kaiti Perras, Zackariah Rathwell and Jordan Segura. ZATNP has since become part of The Profits of Music Foundation.
